What do advertisement companies and song artists have in common? They both are animportant part of the music industry. Should musicians have to work with advertisers all the timethough? Even if they are two separate businesses, they need each other to make money. Songartists should be allowed to let advertisement companies use their music.Advertisements give musicians better opportunities to succeed in the music industry.According to The New Necessity in the Music Business by Stacia Coates, it advises bands to "puttheir music in commercials or promote products for sponsors in order to sustain a career in themusic business." According to Selling Out Not Worth the Risk by Darrius Johnson, it claims thatthe advertising business "take the focus away from what really matters—the music." Johnsonalso emphasizes that "they can replace the passion in an artist’s music and turn the art into justanother tool for corporations." Although ad companies can be distracting to artists, they can beused in a positive way. The article The Changing Landscape of the Music Business by JacobCarter suggests that "these services should be viewed as a way for musicians to get their musicout there." Brian Message, Radiohead's band manger agrees saying that it's "a way for musiciansand fans to interact. The advertisement companies give artists opportunities to focus on theirmusic by playing it everywhere for people to hear. Artists can truly know what fans say abouttheir music and get instant feedback that only the ad business can provide.Advertisement companies should be able to use music for their businesses.
