When I hear music, even without lyrics, I want to hum, whistle, or sing along (or just get up and dance like a crazy person). Instead of focusing on memorizing the material I’m studying, I memorize the music instead. Which for some twisted reason is always easier than memorizing anything in school. One of the articles said that “...there have also been several studies that have shown that music can actually have negative impacts on your studying effectiveness — particularly when it comes to memorizing something in order.” I agree with this because studying while listening to music is like trying to talk on the phone, walk, chew gum, and listen to your friend that is standing beside you, jabbering in your ear all at the same time.
