I loved walking up to the museum, I felt excited just from seeing all the interesting landscape outside. Seeing the fountain with its unique design and it looked like it had lights so at night you could see it. I remember the front door being locked and we had to use a side entrance which I thought was kinda weird. Then once I got inside I found out an artist was making a very unique design at the entrance. He was taking books and hanging them from a frame bolted to the ceiling. Each book had a wire poked the center of it. Then while hanging it they made sure it was all level. The only way I can describe it like a cloud of books hanging from the ceiling. Then we started the tour we had a guide who asked us questions.

The courthouse, it maybe darker than the rest but it takes up most of the left side of the picture. I guessing the painter wanted make sure that you can how large and important that building is. The next thing is the business of the crowd in the streets, riding the trollies pulled by horses. People buying food at the market and judging by the clothing there is high, medium and low working classes. Women and men dressed in nicer clothing, a long with woman and men dressed in very fancy clothing at all. The drug store is another thing that stand out and I like to think it was 1892 version of a walmart carrying anything and everything. The store could order anything and everything for you just as long as you had the money for it. Seeing the Telephone poles in the city is very odd to me because in current times all electricity is run under ground to the buildings only out in the country is their light poles now. So I think that one element captures how old and unique this painting is. You can see the red bricks in the road which is not normal in any city now. I just love everything about this painting how much detail is in it but yet there really isn't much when you look closely at

Visiting the PEM museum and discovering Gardner Pingree house and the Yin Yu Tang house, I learned many things throughout my whole experience. Going through two different houses and contrasting both of the houses seemed very easy because both of the house were from two different parts of the world. The Gardener's Pingree House was from U.S.A and the Yin Yu Tang House was from China. The Yin Yu Tang house was a Chinese house whose owner was a late dynasty merchant.…

Every painting or piece of art work has a center of interest which means some major part of the work catches the eye. In this specific piece of work, I believe that there are three different canters of interest simply because it is broken up into three different scenes of the whole story. The first part that catches my eye is god with the white flag in his hand this is a part that stands out because of the light colors. God is also the main topic of the story that is being expressed through the picture. The second center of interest is found within the middle of the painting which displays the Virgin Mary as she stands out in her bright blue dress.…

My favorite exhibit was in the BYU Museum, “To magnify the Lord: Six Centuries of Art and Devotion”. This exhibit was full of paintings, and artwork representing the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The religious artwork in this exhibit displays beautiful narratives of Christ’s life, and his ministry. All of the paintings in this exhibit relate back to the Savior, and they really emphasize the greatness, and the mercy of the Lord, and many of them portray events that occurred during his life. In this exhibit, I really like the painting by James T. Harwood, “Come Ye After Me”.…

The action takes place outside the city in front of a large boulder, and there is a church seen in the distance. The mood of the painting is very bleak and dull. The colors used are in earthly tones, and there is a strong overall contrast of dark and light. This dramatic lighting technique can be seen in the central figure. His outstretched arms form a V line.…

It was particularly amazing to see many of these works before the museum had opened to public and there were massive crowds around them. I cannot describe the surprise of walking around the corner to see Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night hanging on the wall with no one around it. In high school, I had intensely studied this piece before when I was trying to reproduce it with a Sharpie pen. However, there was something very profound to seeing in person. It was a little smaller than I had expected it to be, but still so beautiful.…

They are too small beyond recognition, so viewers can just make out a figure. Some artworks that impressionists in the 19th century created share some commonalities with this painting. Impressionists depicted the nature with phenomenology excluding political, social, historical thought. They just focused on nature itself, so people are usually cropped or are represented by blurry silhouettes. The big difference from impressionism and the distinct feature of this painting is that what the artist wants to deliver is small philosophy, which is harmony between humanity and nature.…

Going to Smithsonian American art museum was one of the greatest experience that I ever had from any other museum that I have gone too. Just going to museums to see without knowing anything about it is the unique experience that knowing the whole history behind something then going to a museum and seeing those what you have learned is a unique experience that anyone can have. I do not recall any piece of art in "Smithsonian American Art Museum" that did not mesmerize me in one way or the other, I personally it hard to believe that some of the art paintings in the Smithsonian were true done by hand through the stroke of the brush. Each piece of arts in Smithsonian could tell thousands word by only looking at them. I even remember that my friend Noor saying out loud that some of the paintings were filed so real and soft by touch.…

He used contour lines to define the shape of many objects like the billiard table, floor, tables, light bulbs, paintings, glasses, people, and bottles. Another way he used line was to show direction and dimension. For instance at areas on the wall there are lines that go up and down indicating that the wall is vertical and also turns at that point, making a three-dimensional effect. Another place he uses line to show direction is in the floor where there are semi-parallel lines going down the canvas showing that the floor boards are placed in that direction. Another aspect to notice about the lines on the floor is that the distance between them decrease as they move back into the room.…
