Chapter 12 talks about the skeletal system and its different functions and types of bones and tissues it contains. The chapter talks about the different groupings of our bones and the function that each group is responsible for. They also explain the bone structure and the way our bones are connected to cartilage that allows different the different kind of movements we make. Finally the chapter closes by discussing the internal processes happening within our bones such as the way our bones grow and develop from the time we are born and also the way our bones can remodel to remain strong. Movement of the skeleton is stimulated by the contraction of striated muscle also known as skeletal muscle. Because it is attached to the bones and skin it is responsible for the motion of the body and limbs, thus making it controlled voluntarily.
