1.My goal is to improve my muscular strength so I will hit 10 homeruns over the fence this softball season. I will do this by doing anaerobic exercises and lifting weights, I will practice on my batting trainers, and by doing core stability training.

2.Last season with my first travel softball team I hit 3 homeruns over the fence (March 15th - August 21st). On the school softball team I hit 5 homeruns over the fence (Late March - Early May) because it was an easier team with easier pitchers and the people in the field didn’t have much practice. But on my travel team everything is more advanced so I need to become stronger to reach my goal. In total, last year I had 8 homeruns over the fence and this year I want to have hit 10 homeruns

I need to improve my muscular strength, reaction time, and coordination. Muscular strength is the amount of power a muscle can produce. Increasing my muscular strength will make me stronger in my arms and legs making my body strong enough to hit the softball farther and harder. This will give me a better chance of hitting the ball over any fence. Doing anaerobic exercises and lifting weights, over time I will increase my muscular strength and strength to hit the ball over the fence. Reaction time is the time between you senses recognizing a stimulus and your body moving in response. I need to have a better reaction time to meet my goal because my body needs to react fast enough to make good contact with the softball at the right time. Making good contact is the key to hitting the ball far and fast because if the contact is bad then the ball can fumble and you can hit a pop up. By practicing on my batting machine I can practice adjusting to different speeds and having a better reaction time to different pitches. Coordination is the ability to combine at the same time, movements of various body parts. This is needed in completing my goal because hitting a softball takes many different movements of different body parts to hit the ball correctly. Without good coordination you can end up hurting yourself and you can lose a lot of strength. By practicing hitting my batting trainers I can practice balance and practice hitting correctly to make good contact. I will have to practicing moving different body parts at the same time. To be able to reach my goal I must increase my muscular strength, reaction time, and

Softballs are based on two metrics- Coefficient of Restitution (COR) and compression. COR represents how “bouncy” the ball is. The higher the COR, the more bouncy the ball is and the farther it will fly. The compression is measured of how hard a softball is; the higher the compression, the harder the ball and the farther it will fly. Testing shows a “softball compression had a significant effect on batted ball speed.…

Just like in baseball, Exercise Science is expanding in more than one aspect. While baseball is expanding in technology with instant replay, higher quality cameras, and advanced radar guns, Exercise Science is expanding their use of technology with the use of force plates, high speed cameras, reflective markers, and motion analysis to analyze movements of baseball players. Baseball has increased the amount of aspects that can be measured of the game, like batted ball velocity, the value of a player, movement of a pitch and its spin rate, and velocity of any ball thrown on the field. Exercise Science has increased the amount of measurements that can be taken in a wide range of areas, like the mobility of the shoulder, force and momentum produced from the lower body during the pitching motion, angular acceleration and torque of the trunk during the motions of pitching and batting, and even the measurements of muscles, especially those of the rotator cuff, responsible for stability of the shoulder joint. As years go on, technology becomes more advanced, including in baseball and Exercise Science, and the use of that technology becomes more practical, which can then be used to calculate more measurements.…

For me, it was playing softball ever since I was a little girl and watching my sister play ball and longing to be just like her. Looking back on those times, I reminisce but do not regret any of those moments. It made me a better person inside and out; it allowed me to develop critical leadership abilities, communication skills, confidence and self-poise that still carry with me today.…
