Over the years, bigorexia, also known as muscle dysmorphia, has become a growing problem amongst the population, especially for young men. Bigorexia is a psychological disorder where a person feels the urge to get bigger muscles, this account for both men with humongous muscles and for men with small muscles. One in 10 men at the gym is believed to have muscle dysmorphia. This disorder is mostly found in people who were bullied or abused as a child. Most of the people suffering of this disorder do take steroids and pump their muscles with baby oil, to get larger muscles easier and quicker.

He was lucky that he did not die. In more extreme cases, bigorexia can lead to death. The reason for this is that bigorexia can lead to depression, steroid abuse and even suicide. Oli Lyone is one of the unfortunate victims of this:
Oli Loyne was 18 years old man when he started to take steroids to get bigger. His mother claims that his bigorexia was triggered by insecurities over his height. She adds to this by saying; “He didn’t have the height he wanted, so he wanted to make up for this by being as wide as he could”. Oli’s excessive training and steroid use led to two heart attacks and a stroke before at the age of 19. Unfortunately, after he turned 20 he had his third heart attack that led to his death.
Many people who suffer from muscle dysmorphia lives a normal life. The only difference in their life is that most of the victims of bigorexia drink more protein shakes than an average person; they also prioritize working out over their family and social life.
