I compared the book by Haruki Murakami with the book by Yoko Ogawa, to my understanding, the former one is a book of complex evil that people hold inside, while the latter one is a book of pure goodness that people express outside. In the other word, the book reveals that everyone has his/her own dilemma and dark side, but we usually choose to hide in deeply inside of our heart, bury it with our history. However, the book teaches us that humanity did not extinct, there do exist pure goodness in the world that people tend to express it outside to others, I am going to confirm the above points in details in this paper later.

First of all, I have found out that in , everyone has his/her own dilemma and dark side, but they choose to deal

The professor cared about Root (kids), the housekeeper cared about his son, Root cared about both the professor and his mother. Even if a person who is as selfish as the professor’s sister in law, she would agree to endure the jealous and keep the housekeeper only because she cared about the one she loved--the professor. They need to be stronger, braver, and more positive in order to protect the one that they cared from their dark sides and dilemmas. In the meantime, they express their cares to others directly, and obviously, and it brings hope to both themselves and others at the same time, of course their dilemmas and dark sides will never disappear, but they will never afraid of them again, because the care from both themselves and others will always keep them company. That is why even if the story is sentimental and the ending is sad, we can still feel warm after finish reading the whole …show more content…
As we can see from the book, at the end of , for the first time in her life, Mari told Takahashi about her sister issue, then she got useful advice from him which helped her find out what she should do in order to solve the problem, then she went home and stayed with Eri as close as possible, which seems will wake Eri up for the second time. It feels like that two miracles happened in just one night. Both of the miracles come because she opened her heart to Takahashi and her sister Eri, she decided to cheat them wholeheartedly, she learned to express her care for others outside. This correct choice brings sunshine to their lives, and that is when the real story of “after dark” actually starts. What’s more, Takahashi decided to abandon music and concentrate more on studying law in school, in my opinion, he did that because he found the one that he actually cares about--Mari, and he wants to become a better person for her. I believe that he will have a bright future as well after dark. There is no doubt that those two people in survived themselves in the end because they cared about each other. The book did not mention about the ending for the other people, but as long as they can find the one that they

In the short story “Charles” by Shirley Jackson, the theme of the story relates to the mother. The author was trying to get accross to the reader that you should love a person so that they know you care about them, but not to the point where you don’t consider if everything is true or not. Readers believe that this is the theme because throughout the text, the narrator, Laurie’s mother, never thought once about whether everything Laurie was saying was true or not. An example of this is when Laurie’s mother was concerned about Charles affecting her son negatively and was thinking of pulling him out of kindergarten. Laurie’s mother believed so firmly that her son was respectful and behaving everywhere he went.…

Love In The 21st Century How many people can say they are truly happy? In society today it is mostly seen that people have “everything” like a flat screen tv, an iphone, designer clothing, nice cars, and a big house, but yet they are still not happy. (Insert transition sentence). In the award winning novel, Sula by Torri Morrison the author shows a subjective structure of a —African American—community living in a small town called the Bottom, by using unique individuals to create and construct the overall environment of freedom. Initially, Morrison underscores the oppression of the community through the dialogue of the community, but the author contrast these chains of oppression through two individuals; Shadrack and Sula.
