Murphys Narrative

Decent Essays
I had a stuffed animal dog named Murphy, when I was little. It came in a purple bag that was velvet with three colorful flowers on it. Murphy had a brown body but his nose and paws were blonde. When I first got Murphy, his ears were attached to his head by a piece of thread. As time went on, one of Murphy’s ears became detached from his head because he’s been through the wash a countless number of times. Murphy wasn’t that soft of a stuffed animal because he became tattered easily. One day my mom came home from work and said she had present for me. The present was from one of my mom’s friends at work, her name was Robin. I was confused, why was I getting a present? because for all I knew it wasn’t my birthday or a holiday. So I asked my mom

Walter Fisher the developer of the narrative paradigm entails that the approach is not a theory but rather a paradigm which means that the concept is much broader, looking at the fact that it is directed to understanding all human communication experiences (Koening-Kellis, 2008). These human communication experiences influence our need for communication. Take a look at a conversation between a guy who’s from the rural areas, who’s passionate about soccer but only played in the dusty streets. With a guy that has the very same passion but from the upper class and has played in big leagues. Their experiences with the sport are only similar in that they’ve both psychically played the sport but the level and standard which they’ve played at is completely…

Today, June 18th, 2017, marks the last day of my first week of college at Paul Quinn College and I am proud to say, “I survived”. Committing to Paul Quinn was a really big decision for me because this school is a 17 hour drive away from my home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. I was afraid that I might get homesick or that I would not have the support of my family because I would be so far away from home. Soon, after visiting the Dallas campus, I realized that Paul Quinn was the school for me. This is the school where I will grow as an individual and I have come to that realization in my first week of college through the many conversations with upperclassmen, faculty, alumni and summer bridge students.…

Entering the double-doors to start my 11th grade year evoked different emotions than had previous first days of school. The commencement of my freshman and sophomore years were nerve wracking, of course, yet an underlying excitement to see friendly faces had maintained my spirits. However, as a junior, my classmates were now off in their AP and honors classrooms, and I, in a state of ambivalence, was embarking on a new challenge: the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme.
