Murder Of Jim Vs Edward

I do not believe that the murder of Jim by Edward was a bad choice by the director - Tim Burton - and did not make the film too dark, because, quite frankly, one of them was going to kill the other, and it seemed more justified for Jim to die rather than Edward.
It was more justified for Jim to die rather than Edward because first off, Edward is the main character, and though Jim was killed quite near the end of the film, it is very rare for a director to kill off the main character of the film (unless of course you are Shakespeare, then it is excruciatingly common). This made it that it was unlikely, and slightly a dead giveaway that Edward wasn’t going to die, but since it was also obvious that one of them was going to die, it was slightly
