In the image of a mural painted by frank romero “Going to the Olympics, 1984” shows a beautiful painting done on the side of a Hollywood freeway. It was dedicated to the Olympics, it has 5 old model type cars with valentine hearts over each car, there are palm trees in the background as well he uses light pastel colors to give off the light cheery mood. On top in the sky of the mural are symbols as well; there is an iron, two men wrestling, a Good Year blimp, a stallion, and a mailing stamp. I believe in that time period Romero might have felt that he city’s car culture was beautiful because there might have not been that much traffic, you can tell he feels that way from the valentine hearts over each car. You can also take in the fact

The palm trees represent the city of Los Angeles since it is known for having them. The cars represent the main mode of transportation in LA, which we are also known for. The hearts that hover above the cars represent the love that we have for our car industry and travelling in general. Yet, these statistics do not encapsulate all of The Rose’s mystique, intrigue, and troubled history, nor do they demonstrate the way in which it complicates the canonical survey of art and design that we began the course with/the Western canon of art or how it complements the other modules in this course as they currently exist. I specifically wanted to work with postwar American art of the 1950s because this period allowed for the most…

Mexican Mosaic tells the history of Mexico from the Spanish conquest in 1519 to the mid-2000s. The Author, Dr. Jürgen Buchenau, demonstrates Mexico’s position in the global community, the negotiations of power that happened within Mexico, and the social environment in Mexico. Mexican Mosaic is like many other history books in that it presents many. Buchenau differentiates himself from others by his analysis of events in Mexican history that are unclear and events in the modern political sphere of Mexico. In other words, he provides readers with his opinion and facts necessary to evaluate his opinion and for the reader to create their own.…

In Frank Romero's mural “Going to the Olympics, 1984,” he uses vivid and bold colors to depict everyday life in Los Angeles. In this image, I can notice cars, blimps, palm trees, hearts, and two men wrestling. In a busy city like Los Angeles, it isn't uncommon for cars to be nearly bumper to bumper, which is perhaps the reason why he depicted the city in such a manner. In addition, the palm trees and cars are slanted, which can be Romero's way of showing his audience that the cars were rushing to get somewhere important. The painting also includes two men wrestling, which represents an Olympic sport that the people were commuting to witness.…

In the mural of "Going to the Olympics, 1984" by Frank Romero, it shows drawings of five cars especially all different colors and it seems that the picture can be referring to the beach, near the cars there are trees and hearts drawn. It also shows on the background a horse, a blimp, two man wrestling and an iron. The cars and the trees can possibly mean life in LA especially at the beach. The background doesn't really have any meaning or at least any obvious meanings and the placements doesn't really matter once so ever, one conclusion that i have thought of for the meaning of the horse is about the time cars didn't exist and people had to use horses to go around to places.…

Minjarez states that “hopefully his mural or other art work gets people to start thinking” not only for the future of Hispanic but for any other racial issues (Minjarez).…

My grandmother was personally affected by the earthquake that occurred in the morning of September 19th in Mexico. When she got home she got to witness the aftermath with her own eyes. The walls of her home had been cracked, her glass arrangements had been destroyed, and her outside porch was basically broken in half. There are many other cases like this, and the image shows just one area out of the many that were affected. It uses colors, ethos, pathos, and logos instead of using words to describe what can already be seen.…
