Education V
As for education, as we know it was not my priority when I was emerging as an adult. According to the data collected, I was extremely happy with my children. Although I was a single and young mother I was always blessed and always had a job. Work was not something that I was deprived of. My children were my priority and never missed anything. I never really followed the mold that every single family member of my family seemed to follow as I taught my children what was wrong and right as well as implanting a highly moral basis to their character. Have you ever been made to feel less than because of your skin color, sex, sexual orientation, or even your religion? This is a question that could be asked of anyone. I think that is what Patricia Hill-Collins meant by “The Matrix of Domination.” If you take a good hard look at the world around us, people seem eager to dislike everyone for one reason or another and they have a myriad of reasons to do so. Ever since I was a child I have taken my academic studies seriously because I knew that one day I was going to have to grow up and in order to be successful in life you need to have an education. Now, I won’t sugarcoat this, but I’ve always been afraid of the thought of going to college because I would look at college tuitions on pamphlets and see at least three zeroes behind every number. Thoughts would race through my head thinking how will my parents ever make this amount of money and was college even worth going to? I’ve grown up as a low middle class child and college was never mentioned in my family, I guess you could say that they were ashamed of the fact that they couldn’t give us everything and to make it worst maybe even college.…
