The archetype of the angry and noble hero, Munna is played by actor Aamir Khan. Munna is the archetype of the angry hero because, he is arrogant to others and boost himself in front of the society. He is resentful towards society because, he feels as though the society stereotype’s poor people and humiliates them in society, just like the police officer did to Munna when he was selling movie tickets. Munna looks tough and bad on the outside but he has a heart of gold. Munna is also seen as the noble hero because, he has goals in the film. For example, Pakya tells Mili that Munna was saving up money for their wedding. He has qualities of a good Indian boy because, Mili’s parents are delighted by his presences and they always take his side when …show more content…
Raj is an actor who is loved and admired by all. After seeing Mili dance, he is the one who gives Mili her first big break in the film industry. He is the one who fulfils her dream of becoming an actress. As Raj begins to fall in love with Mili, he tells her about Su Chitra, a girl he loved and wanted to marry. He bought a new car and took Su Chitra out on a long drive. Unfortunatly Raj drove his car way too fast and crashed his car and Su Chitra was pronounced dead. He says that his chance to be happy, to be married and to have his own family was shattered the night Su Chitra died. This hero has an androgynous physical presence, he is emotionally vulnerable and is non-violent. Towards the end of the movie, Raj poses qualities of a noble hero because, when he realizes that Mili doesn’t love him and she truly loves Raj. He does not confess his love for her but respects her love for Munna by helping her find him. At the end of the movie, Raj speaks to Munna with love and innocence as he says there is nothing going on between him and Mili and that Mili truly loves Munna as much as he loves her and he reunites them. At the end he faced self-destruction because he is now alone. When Raj reveals his noble character at the end of the movie, this satisfies the stereotype of a hero because, he is a good person as he reunites the two lovers and doesn’t get in their way of being with each …show more content…
Joshi (Mili’s father) is played by actor Achyut Potdar. In the eyes of Munna, Mr. Joshi appears to be the wise old man. He is kind, is a father figure to Munna since he is an orphaned. Mr. Joshi offers Munna advice. Mr. Joshi shares a personal story with Munna about the first girl he ever loved. Mr.Joshi explains that people drink to forget the past and to revive the memories of the past. Mr.Joshi tells Munna that for 4 years he liked a girl but their love story took place on a bus because he never had the courage to tell her how he really felt. As a result, she married another man. The advice Mr. Joshi offers to Munna is that, he must admit his love to Mili before someone else does and he loses his chance with her. Mr. Joshi is motivation behind Munna. His advice is the reason Munna travels to Goe to try to confess his love to Mili and purpose to her but he is unsuccessful.
The stereotype of the comedic figure, Pakya is played by actor Rajesh Joshi. He is the hero’s (Munna) best friend and his sidekick. His purpose at the beginning of movie is to make people laugh. His purpose in the middle of the movie is to provide Munna with emotional support as he falls in love with Mili and experiences emotions of sadness and anger. At the end of the movie, Pakya is the reason Mili finds out how Munna has been feeling and where Munna has headed. In a way Pakya directs the path Mili must seek to be reunited with her
