My Family Ancestry

The ancestry of North America is one that is difficult to fully understand. There are many historical facts that tell us who the first people were to come to the new land, when they came, and why they came. We do are best to understand the lives of these people from centuries ago. However, I always thought one couldn’t really know unless they were talking about their family history. Boy was I wrong. We have this idea of are family background. We understand that we are just a branch on a large family tree, However, you do not understand how much there is to know about your family, or even how large your family is, until you research it. Finding information for this research paper was a little challenging. Family members were able to give me …show more content…
However, it will never be enough to fully know my family ancestry. I have two family ancestry’s that lead back to me. I have the Deaver side, which is my fathers. I also have the Rose side, which is my mothers. My great grandfather Robbin came to America but first took a …show more content…
My great grandfather was one of 10 children. He moved to North America from England. He lived in Arizona for two years and then moved to Michigan. Ironically he lived in Mt. Morris which is not too far from where I live today. I was unable to find out why he moved to North America but I like to think it was similar to that of the Mayflower. In “The Mayflower Compact” (Longman Reader pg.5), it gives a little background information on the settlers. It states that European colonists came to America. It goes on then to describe some of their dreams and aspirations as they came to the new land. I would like to think this voyage was similar to that of my great grandfathers, I also would like to think that he had a dream for what North America would look like. He aspired to be successful here. Another very interesting thing about my great grandfather is that he married and took his wives last name, Rose. This is interesting to me because not a lot of men do this. It also makes me intrigued to know that my Grandmother and Mother could have grown up with a different last name. Rose is an important name in my family. My mother no longer has it because she remarried. However I am fortunate enough to have it as my middle name. I guess you could say I will always carry part of our family ancestry with me. After great grandfather married he and his wife had seven children. One being my Grandmother Rose who is still alive

In chapter one, the author Martha Menchaca discusses the racial foundations and history of Mexican-American Indians, Whites, and Blacks. Menchaca begins her chapter discussing how archeologists and anthropologists in the past before the 1960s had little interest in recovering Mexican-American prehistory. It was not until the 1970s Mexican-American anthropologists began to recover their culture’s prehistory. Menchaca also shares that Mexican-American indigenous past is both in Mexico and the Southwest and have roots tracing back to Aztlán. She argues that Aztlán may not have been the true site of the origins of many Indians.…

When one considers the actions of the famous Christopher Columbus or Amerdigo Vespucci, one is normally opted to recall one or both of them as the man who discovered the United States of America. However, as history clearly shows, this is not the case for either one of these famous explorers; the lands that would become the United States had been discovered and inhabited long before either of their voyages. The Native Americans, ironically misbranded as Indians by Columbus, can trace their history of this land back much further than the colonists are able. It is no surprise, therefore, that the Native Americans are a popular subject among colonial authors. Three authors who write extensively concerning these original settlers of American Land…

Kathleen J. Fitzgerald 's study about the meaning of ethnicity to Americans who get back the native lives and characteristics is tentatively informed and elaborately narrated by those people, whose ethnic journeys she has explored. Her wide-ranging interviews disclose the dominant enthusiasms that keep her informers on course in the face of the demanding biographical archaeological sites many must take on along the way and the cynicism they come across on the path to becoming Indian. This book also makes available another important lens from end to end examination and understanding of the ever-changing American ethnic background. The author studies the rare prospects of the ethnicity of Native Americans.…

“Who am I?” This is a question that everyone my age has likely asked themselves. The first thing that needs to be figured out is, what defines a person? Does family history decide who you are going to be? I believe it is the things you pick up from the people you are around, the things you go through, and the things you learn in your life that decide who you will become.…

Several melts over a period of time created passageways, and evidence from archeological site implies that there was an ice-free corridor for thousands of years. It was during another melt approximately ten thousand years ago, that a second corridor was most likely formed farther east along the borders of Saskatchewan and Canada plains. This points to the possibility that the ancient people could have traveled eastward along the rivers in the Great Plains, and down further…

With the family surnames of Rasmussen and Anderson it is clear that the beginnings of my Family of Origin are mainly Danish, so describing my family as a taco might be shocking. Often the ingredients try to slip out of the tortilla and some ingredients can be eaten without anything added or taken away from them, such as cheese.…
