Multnomah University Experience

Electing to attend Multnomah University has been both a rewarding and challenging experience. Throughout my college years, my professors modeled how to live a biblical worldview as I studied Bible, Theology, Greek and Hebrew. Because of those teachers, I learned how to study the Bible and the importance of practicing what I preach. The classroom cultivated an excitement to learn the truth and minister it to others.
Upon graduation from Multnomah University, my parents rewarded me with a trip to Israel. We spent three, life changing weeks traveling around this awe inspiring country. This experience has deeply affected my walk with the Lord. The ability to physically walk throughout the land of Israel helped to facilitate visualizing the various biblical stories. When reading the Bible, I occasionally forget that these are real places. Seeing the Holy Land with my own eyes was a profound experience that has brought the Bible to life. Consequently, the knowledge I acquired has ignited a greater passion to study and teach the Bible.
Over the last eight years, I have been privileged to serve in the Church by teaching and preaching. My proficiency in teaching has steadily improved with practice. However, visiting Israel has greatly enhanced my sermons. Other than my time in college, my pilgrimage was

Due to the rapid pace of my first trip, I felt overwhelmed and was unable to absorb the importance of a few significant sites. Therefore, a second trip would supply me the opportunity to have a greater appreciation for the sites. Moreover, I was unable to see the more modern sites on my first visit. This second trip would allow me to see these parts of Israel. For instance, I would cherish visiting the sites in the West Bank and the modern day government buildings. The synthesis of these two experiences would provide a deeper understanding of Israel, which in turn would produce more insightful preaching on my

Petra Thanks for your appreciation toward my work. You remark my biblical contribution and many times I analyze the way how God proceed and I am amazed at his wisdom, though he wants many people to become a testimony of his miracles and life on earth sometimes I cannot understand why he chose 12 disciples to follow him and become testimony of what he did on earth, why they were so special if they did not have any background in theology and Jesus was practicing theology since he was 12, besides in the bible sometimes was noticeable the frustration of God when he was preaching and teaching parabolas and they could not understand him. 13 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable?…

I recently attended a Liberty University Convocation that really spoke to me while attending College For a Weekend. While I sat in the Vines’ Center seats, I listened to Donald Miller talk about the four kinds of people in a story: the victim, the villain, the hero, and the guide. I personally feel that my trials through life were given to me so I could fulfill the role of a guide in my life and others. My perspective is not commonly found in society today and I have a strong desire in my heart to help. I believe that Liberty University can help me grow and develop leadership skills to become what God has intended me to be to glorify him while helping others in their own individual lives.…

But I knew and felt it when I didn’t sit down to spend time with God. It’s a discipline that I am training in. I saw that spending time in the Word was important more in this year than I ever had before.…

It all started with a lightbulb idea! The Cohen School teachers were exploring ways to help our students connect with Israel on a personal level. Our K-1 teacher Alyse Teitelbaum, excitingly exclaimed that we at The Cohen School should build a replica of the Kotel. This replica would provide an opportunity to connect with G-d by participating in the practice of placing slips of paper containing prayers into the cracks of the Western Wall. Together, with Alyse, teachers Shirah Cruz, Tracey Bosco, Rabbi Joel Hoffman and I questioned how we could design and deliver this educational experience so that the students could symbolically connect with ancient traditions of the Jewish people.…

This morning I pondered on the new year that is just days away. Every year I release a New Year's message to encourage you. Therefore, I grabbed my bible to see what God wanted to speak to me through His word. As I flipped through the pages I stopped at Psalms 106. As I began to read, my eyes embraced the seventh verse and something began to stir in my spirit. Reflecting inwardly about the actions of the children of Isreal I began to compare them to my own in 2015.…

Calvary Commission, the seminary that I stayed at, is located a few miles out of town on a land that seems to never end. I could walk miles and still find myself to be on Calvary Commission’s property. The first day I was there, my group and I went on a little hike up to the prayer chapel, which sat on the top of a hill, surrounded by trees, and a bonfire pit stood a few feet away. This was my group’s first real exposure to how great the people at Calvary Commission are.…
