Multitasking influenced my life in a negative way because it lowers my concentration. According to the article “Multitasking Madness” by Paulos (2007), multitasking makes people to get stressed and prevents them from getting their tasks done efficiently. Many teenagers spend their time online and spending time causes obsessive multitasking. Usually, people believe that multitasking well shorten the time it takes to get the tasks done. In fact, it will make the time longer and quality lower (Paulos, 2007). For example, when I study, I have to find some words on my cell phone. According to the article “Is the Internet Making us Stupid?” by Hall (2012), the new way to consume information has developed, and it is creating a bad influence because it helps people to be knowledgeable in many different things very shallowly. With internet developing very rapidly, it is possible to access the information very quickly. However, it doesn’t provide information in depth for true knowledge and experiment. This will lead to “a world of people who feel a false sense of intelligence” (Hall, 2012). For example, when I do a research homework, I tend to look just for the answers instead of looking in depth for the explanation. Therefore, I would have very shallow understanding of the topic. Also, on the internet, there is no filter. This means that there might be some false information online. As an example, I have once looked up the definition of a word, but it was completely inaccurate. Because I was trusting the internet so much, I was shallowly intelligent like Hall mentioned in the article. To sum up, people being shallowly intelligent is one of the harmful effect of technology
