Multitasking as a College Student
A first semester in college is a challenging experience for new students. It can be overwhelming sometimes, as students soon realize that this next step in their education is nothing like their experience in high school. The way students studied before and how they approached their courses is significantly different than what college has for them. After getting familiar with the campus and classes, the real challenge is being able to balance life and schoolwork, the student must be able to complete assignments in several classes, often being of different subjects and theory. Setting a social life aside, multitasking your college classes and personal life can be challenging.

As a new student in college, it is best to take advantage of all the resources college offers, such as library resources and tutoring. The amount of study time should amount to two hours for every one hour spent in class for homework and assignments. Without the distractions of phones, texting or Facebook, your brain functions more on doing one task at a time and will improve your critical thinking ability to focus on your college work.
They are a few different strategies you can use to optimize learning. First, after studying for a few hours, always take break to satisfy the craving for electronic communications. Meet with your professor when you need help and do not wait until the very last minute to complete homework, projects, essays or study. Use your college planner, and write down a list of what to do, be willing to work hard in college. Everyone adjusts to their own pace, so keeping track of deadlines, reviewing the syllabus every week, and sticking with the schedule will generate motivation, and the hard work will pay
