Students will be able to determine/find how unknown is related to/in like multiplication and division facts.
They will complete a tool (worksheet) where they are required to get 8/11 in order to pass. Yet, IEPs and 504 Plan students only need to get 6/11 correctly to pass. They will be allowed to illustrate their work in the empty space under the questions.
Written on the board:
So today we are on the same objectives as yesterday class. Y’all will be able to determine/find how unknown is related to/in like multiplication and division facts. We are not going to do a warm up today. Like usual we will be breaking into centers. So, group 1 go to the carpet and …show more content…
Read your equation to a partner.
T: Erase one of the circles. How many groups now?
S: 1.
T: Write a multiplication equation to represent your picture. Read your equation to me.
T: Call on different students and use Kid Watching tool to document)
T: Now I want y’all to write a new equation. Let n equal the number of dots in each group. What is 1 times n dots?
S: It’s n because when you multiply by 1 the number does not change.
T: What is 1 times a number equal to?
S: The same number.
T: Write the related division fact for your multiplication equation.
T: Now share your equation.
Problem 2:
T: On the board I will write 3x0= a. What does the equation represent?
S: Three groups of 0.
T: Draw a picture of the equation using circles to show groups and dots to show the number in each group. T: How many dots did you draw in each group?
S. None.
T: There are a total of 0 dots, so 3x0=?
S: Zero.
T: What is the value of a in the equation?
S: a is equal to 0.
Continue with the following possible suggestions: 5x0, 4x0, 6x0.
T: What was the pattern that y’all noticed?
S: Any number times 0 equals 0.
T: So what do you think will happen if you tried to divide by zero?
S: It will probably be the same as
