Multiple Sclerosis is a nasty disease that can leave the person who has the disease immobilized. My dad has Multiple Sclerosis and it makes it very hard for him to walk and get around. It’s hard to see him struggle to walk me down the field for parents night. There is no current cure for Multiple Sclerosis and the only thing doctors recommend are medication to ease the symptoms, but there could be a better way to reverse the disease and stop its progression. Changing your diet by controlling fats and eliminating lectins can be more effective to suppress Multiple Sclerosis symptoms than taking medication that can result in harmful side effects.

The bad fats are saturated fats. Professor George Jelinek has said, “Intervention studies where people with MS have maintained very low saturated-fats diets have consistently shown significant reduction in relapse rates and slowing of disease progression” (91). By limiting the saturated fat intake people have shown that the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis can be suppressed. Ingesting the bad fats cause, the Multiple Sclerosis symptoms, so reducing them will cause less symptoms which would reduce the need for medication. Along with eliminating the bad fats, one needs to ingest the good ones. Sawyer says, ingesting good fats like unsaturated fat and eating healthy oils like Omega-3, 6, and 9 can all control symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis and reduce the symptoms affects (69). A balance diet needs fat and these good fats can replace the bad ones without causing flare ups in Multiple Sclerosis. Following these guidelines for fat intake have been proven to restrain the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis, better than medication for people who stuck to the diet, however that will not do it
