June 14, 2010 Multiple Sample Hypothesis Testing The purpose of this paper is to create a hypothesis based on two-sample tests. Two-sample tests compare two sample estimates with each other, whereas one-sample tests compare a sample estimate with a non-sample benchmark (Doane & Seward, 2007). The learning team has chosen to create a hypothesis testing using the wages and wage earners data set. The learning team has developed one business research question from which the team will formulate a research hypothesis. The younger group has a mean wage of $30,003 and an income range of $10,997 to $83,601. The older group has a mean wage of $31,891 and the income range is $9,879 to $83,569. Although the difference in the mean wage may not be that large the descriptive statistics of the two groups implies that the older group of individuals earns more than the younger group.
