Due to the little or no change found using the minimal pair approach, the multiple oppositions approach was developed. Treatment results suggested that the use of broad training and systemic intervention in a multiple oppositions approach includes larger treatment sets of multiple phonemic contrasts, and provides intervention across broader spectrum of a child’s error patter, rule, or phoneme collapse. Multiple opposition approach is unique and specific to each child because it focuses on the individuals phonologic strategies, as compared to minimal pair therapy, which includes training on one isolated aspect of a child’s system. Williams indicated that the findings of this study suggest that one treatment approach may not be suitable for all
