Intelligence is defined as the capability of how human derived knowledge or to adopt understandings to manipulate the environment surrounding them. Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences explains that there are 9 distinct types of intelligence in human. Multiple intelligences relate to different learning methods and styles that one uses to receive knowledge and process the information by their own methods. Hence, every human has their own differences of intelligence that enables them to use their own skills in their own way. This theory addresses the problem of teaching method for the educators to teach and guide their students so that they can have a better understanding on what is being taught, but since every person has different intelligence of understanding on a certain subject, the issue occurs for the educators as it is impossible for them to teach …show more content…
Multiple Intelligence approach is worth to take into consideration and most of all, they are very practical for use in any level class. It was found that students who are overachievers are required to make adjustments to the Multiple Intelligence methodology. By making those changes, overachievers are bound to gain the extras, thus, can become more confident in their hidden talents and even more outgoing and sociable in their extracurricular activities.
John White (1997) has argued on his points that there are significant issues around the criteria that Howard Gardner employs. There have been questions raised with regards to the individual criteria, for example, do all intelligences only involve symbol systems; how are the criteria going to be applied; and why these particular criteria are relevant to individuals. In respect of the last, and fundamental question, White states that as up to date, he has not been able to find any answer in Gardner’s writings (ibid.:
