Multiple Choice Worksheet

Mrs. Shewmaker my 11th grade English teacher mainly focused her teaching on multiple choice, which is the most challenging thing students had on the AP test. Taking a multiple choice every Monday seemed like a lot and it was because I would do good on some and not so good on others. The multiple choice would focus on grammar and overall questions that were based on the prompt. Every time we were given a new multiple choice worksheet I would get confused on what the question was asking. These multiple choice practice lowered my grade and made me feel like it was futile doing this because when it comes time to take the AP test the outcome of my score would reflect my grades. I started to doubt my writing skills whenever my grades didn’t meet

During my junior year at Stephen Decatur High School, I was enrolled in American Literature with Mrs. Moore. At first I thought she was a hard teacher because she made us write a lot. I enjoyed writing creative pieces, but in her class she gave us a prompt or we had to analyze a text and prove how the author believed in the American Dream or not. The first essay we wrote I scored a 29 out of 30 and was proud of myself because English has not always been my strongest subject. Our next assignment was on The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.…

I never considered myself to be an excellent writer but still thought I wrote well enough to get my point across without confusing the reader too much. However, any confidence that I had in my writing skills was lost for a short time when I had to write my first timed essay in school. Luckily, the timed essay assignment also helped me see that I needed to work on my writing and, as a result, actually turned out to be a more positive experience rather than a negative one. It was just another regular school day that was near its end, and I had one more class to go to before everyone was released to go home.…

I believe that I have the potential to be a good writer, as I wrote a seven-page research paper on the way children are becoming more intelligent with the use of the internet, as they have the ability to look up an answer to a question they do not know anytime of the day. I had an easy time writing the paper because we went over everything that needed to be in it beginning with an attention grabbing thesis and ending with a powerful conclusion. I flew through writing the paper, which made me confident that I was going to get a good grade (and I did), it made me feel that I had improved my writing abilities. I also had to write an analytical paper comparing Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein to a modern day problem in society. It was more difficult to write compared to the research paper because I had to compare it to a difficult read.…

The one area over the years which I have the most problems in my English class is creative writing. For instance, our writing assignment for the Christmas holiday in the fourth grade was to create a famous person from an inanimate object and to give him a backstory. As I sat in my room pondering, I saw a sock. I immediately had an inspiration to create Socky Balboa, a famous boxer who was made of a sock. I based my story on the story of Rocky Balboa.…
