Nurses are active members of the healthcare team, a specific example of how I would be involved on a multidisciplinary team is getting involved in the PACU unit base council or a magnet council. Council work is very important and affords the opportunity to make a positive change on the unit and organization, as well as providing quality nursing care. Patients in the PACU have multiple lines and drains, making the risk for central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) high. Actively working on the unit base council to prevent CLABSI in the PACU is an example of how I can actively contribute to the unit’s operations.
