Multidimensional Leadership
Coaching and leadership are two concepts that are closely intertwined. Leadership is the action of guidance, direction or supervision of a group of individuals. A leader in sports is a coach, who provides a direction for the team. Coaching is the developing, training or teaching an individual or a team with a specific personal or professional goal in mind. Coaches have many roles, including but not limited to, teaching technical skills, changing behaviors of team members with different personalities, teacher, and roll-model. Each coach has a leadership style in which he or she uses to get the job done.
There are as many coaching leadership models or styles as there are coaches, and not one has yet been established as the best model to follow. The model chosen

Preferred behavior is connected to situational characteristics and member characteristics. Some athletes, frequently older or professional athletes, prefer an autocratic or a domineering leadership style wear as younger athletes prefer a more hands-on, relationship-oriented style (Anshel, 2012). High school athletes, as a rule, will drop out of the sport if they do not like the coach.
The last leader behavior is actual leader or coaching behavior is leadership characteristics and is a combination of required behavior and preferred behavior. The actual behavior is related to leader characteristics. If the coach has a democratic leadership style or an autocratic leadership style, this will have an impact on his actions or behaviors with his or her team. According to Andrew (2009), studies show that there is a connection between when the athlete and coach are congruent, there is greater athlete satisfaction and performance.
