The mainstream curriculum focuses on the upper hand of mainstream students, while diminishing the importance of the cultures of students of color. The ultimate goal in this chapter is to bring forth a multicultural curriculum. Chapter 9 goes into detail about the four different approaches to integration of ethnic content that are involved in the mainstream curriculum.
