The term multiculturalism refers to the coexistence of diverse cultures, where culture includes racial, religious, or cultural groups and is manifested in customary behaviours, cultural assumptions and values, patterns of thinking, and communication styles. Since being at Munger Hill Elementary I haven’t really seen any accounts of multicultural education occur in the classroom. Even though I have not seen many accounts of this occur in the classroom, there are multiple strategies to be made to enhance the integration of themes of diversity. One activity I can do with my students to bring more diversity into the classroom is that at the beginning of the year I can do a student introduction activity. One way how it supports all learners is that by exposing all the students to different cultures and diversities this exposes them for the future when they are in the real world and seeing these both in play. Another way how it supports all learners is because as a teacher, I will adapt all the lessons for all learners even if they are diverse. In my Multi-Cultural class we have learned all about how to teach diversity in a classroom. In this class we have done short writing assignments where there were prompts we had to answer like what is your school district 's history like with testing etc and then what is a city school district like and we had to answer how both were different. We also have whole group discussions where the teacher asks a question to ask about diversity or culture in the classroom and we have to participate by giving our own personal answers back. The most recent question he asked for one of these discussions was, “What are some appropriate ways in your class you could teach the students about different cultures and diversities?” The reason why he proposes questions like these for us as a class to discuss is because when it comes time to teach about multiculturalism to our students the teacher wants to make sure we appropriately teach it because it may offend some students versus
