Multi-Tasking And Observation Paper

The Multi-tasking and Observation demonstrated the concept that attention is limited. After observing a strange, it was clear that people could not focus their attentions on more than one tasks at a time. In our lecture the concepts the Capacity Theory and the Dual Task was discussed about. The Capacity Theory is the idea that cognitive resources are divided amongst the task an individual pays attention to. In other words, our brain has limited attention to what we can focus to. This theory correlates to Dual Task. Dual Task states that there is an overload attention when a individual is performing two tasks. For example, I found out that it became hard for the strange to focus while she was performing two task. The auditory and visual stimuli were both occupied in terms of watching and listening to her show and reading and comprehending the text. For example , in class we watched the video proving the idea of the Capacity Theory and the Dual Task. In the video , numerous people were asked to complete various tasks while driving in a secluded area. The tasks involved taking on the phone, reading a map , applying makeup and etc. The results showed that more than half the people participating in the dual task performed less than sixty percent on a scale to a hundred. The reason is that their cognitive resources were allocated amongst the task the person was completing. Some tasks required more attention than the other. Multi- tasking does not compromise for task accuracy because each tasks requires a certain amount of attention. Therefore, the attention on each of the task is not a hundred percent attention focus. Each person has a two track mind , meaning that he or she is simultaneously processing information separately on the conscious and unconscious
