I can say that I am very thankful that I was able to get myself, a few clothes, and my vehicle out before the flood hit. We had very little warning that floods were going to happen. The community watched as well as I did and made the extra precautions to keep myself safe. A risk that is not seen by a great amount of places is agriculture infestation. “Farming in Marshall County remains …show more content…
This plan was well over 400 pages too. Then I got an email from William and he said he was finally able to get me the mitigation plan that is in place. It took him a few days to get this too me because the file was so large. As I had said in the beginning, this is the Northeast Kansas (Region K) Multi-Hazard, Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. For typing purposes, I shall call it the mitigation plan. “This is a multi-hazard, multi-jurisdictional mitigation plan combination and update covering Kansas Homeland Security Region K. Region K is comprised of nine participating counties and one participating tribe and is located in the northeast region of the state.” (Blue Umbrella) This plan lists each county/reservation and gives a back story on all of them. It tells the size, established dates, highways, bodies of water and even how much of the area is water related to each area. “The main water course is the Big Blue River, which bisects the county flowing north to south. Other rivers, creek sand streams include the Little Blue River, Red Vermillion Creek, Deer Creek, and Horse Shoe Creek. In total, 43 names streams may be found in Marshall County. There are no major identified lakes or reservoirs in the county.” (Blue Umbrella) It also lists the towns and tells the last census population of that town. I had never thought of it until now, but all of this information is very important if something were to happen. Knowing how many people live in a certain county, can give a better idea of how many supplies will be needed and to get a count if there was something to

What my research aims to examine is whether or not Western North Carolina is abiding by sustainable measures in order to keep a well-kept environment by following the correct procedures of animal agriculture and whether or not this information is readily available for public access. The term animal agriculture is also known as “factory farming” and “animal husbandry”, meaning “a branch of agriculture concerned with the production and care of domestic animals” (Merriam-Webster). The animal agriculture industry is such a big part of our lives that many do not even know it when “nearly half of the United States is devoted to animal agriculture” and it is just swept under our noses (Cowspiracy). A lot of my research for this assignment was sparked after watching a documentary called Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret, which was executively produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, and Appian Way Productions (Cowspiracy).…
