In American history, slavery has been such an important topic that have so many meaning behind. Mulatto children were children that were feared from enslaved women and their masters’. Masters forced their slaves to comply with sexual desires and if not, consequences resulted in grave punishment for them and their families. Most often masters were already wed, which caused problems and hatred for slaves and the master's wife. Mulatto or racially mixed children were the result of sexual intercourse from masters and slaves. Having a child beard this way made the status of the child quite difficult, because it followed that of the mother.
