Mulan's View Of Heroism

Joseph Campbell once said, “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger”. Heroes don't have to save people, they can devote their time, effort and money into helping people and doing the right thing. Although heroism is being selfless, such as putting yourself in harms way for others, it doesn't always end well for everyone.
To begin with, Heros put themselves in harm's way to protect others. A great example of this is Mulan. She took her father's place in the army because he was hurt, even though it's a crime that is punishable by death. Mulan portrayed heroism because she put her own well being in harm's way, not thinking of herself. Another great example is the soldier who came home from Afghanistan after he lost
