The basic plot of Mulan the Movie is the home, the army center and the battle field.
The traditional role in Mulan time period is to bring honor to your family as a girl, the best you could do is become a wife “with good taste, calm, obedient, work at a fast pace, and have a tiny waist. That is what Mulan is doing in the movie she is being prepared to be chosen as a bride for a potential man; this in itself is an example of women’s roles in feudal society.

Mulan is completely different than other Disney princess because Mulan went in the army even though she knew she can't but she went anyway because she knew this was the only way to save her father, and fought the Hans and showed women can do something in her period of time. If you compare Cinderella and sleeping beauty to Mulan they are different because Mulan is brave while Cinderella just got everything from her godmother rather than being a women and standing up for herself, and for sleeping beauty she just simply touched a needle and went to a long sleep and the prince kissed her and she is a woke up so technically she did not do anything but just sleep for 100 years. Mulan is based on a true story but is actually it is an ancient Chinese poem titled the Ballad of Mulan, because it is a legend, it is unknown when Mulan may have lived although she was believed to have lived during the Northern Wei dynasty which lasted from 386CE to 534CE. The historic aspects of the films that are not accurate is, for her there was no intelligent horse and no small red dragon as there was in the Disney version of the
