Muhammad Ali The name Muhammad Ali is known throughout the world as one of the greatest boxers of all time.His speed in the ring was tremendous. Muhammad is well known as “The Greatest” athletes to ever life. Even people who don’t follow boxing know him.
Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr. (Muhammad Ali) was born January 17, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky.Muhammad Ali rode a red and white schwinn bicycle to boxing practice for about 2 years. Then one day a tearful Clay reported theft to Officer Joe Martin and told the officer he was going to pummel the culprit. Officer Martin, who was also a boxing trainer, suggested that Clay opt to practice and learn how to box before fighting the culprit, and Martin soon took Clay under his wing.1
By the time Clay had turned 18 he had 100 victories and 8 losses, 2 national Gold Glove titles, and two amateur athletic titles.Then in 1960 after graduating high school he traveled to Rome and won the light heavyweight title for the Summer Olympics,and on October 29, 1960, Clay won his professional boxing debut in a six-round decision.Since Muhammad started his pro career he has overwhelmed all his opponents with a combination of quick, powerful jabs and foot speed.1
