Throughout history we’ve always had catalyst that changed the course of time. Whether it was good or bad, on purpose or on accident they created a movement. The top three most influential agents were Ice Cube, the birth control pill, and women’s suffrage. What ties these 3 are the stereotypes that were created for them and how they changed them. After watching the movie Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight, many of the events/situation that occurred between the Supreme Court Justices and law clerks surprised me. First, I was fascinated by Justice Harlan’s law clerk, Kevin Connolly’s tenacity and idealistic attitude during the process of rejecting and accepting the case, Clay v. the United States. For instance, Connolly’s bravery was demonstrated when he tried to dismiss his responsibility to write the brief directed by Justice Harlan due to his political ideology.…

Tricia Rose’s “The Hip Hop Wars” commences and entitles the first chapter as “Hip Hop Causes Violence.” Before furthering on with the chapter, one may intuitively develop a bias supposition that what is titled is based on an actual fact without having any valid evidence to prove why it is the way it is. Tricia Rose, whom is an author, a scholar, and a public speaker presented an argument stating “a key aspect of much of the criticism that has been leveled at hip hop is the claim that it glorifies, encourages, and thus causes violence (Hip Hop Wars, pg.34).” Although several critics may agree that hip hop promotes violence, Tricia Rose covers the significant aspects of the controversy whether hip-hop indeed causes violence.…
What is the Africanist Aesthetic? It’s the African-based cultural forms and philosophical approach existing in the African Diaspora that continue to reflect similar musical, dance, and oral practices as those in Africa; though not African, enough resemblances in the performer's’ attitude and relationship to audience exist that cultural connections to African cultural practices are apparent. How does African culture continue to show in Hip-hop over time? Hip-Hop culture, since around the 1950s, has shown the world different aspects of the Africanist Aesthetic within its culture. Though it is understood that not everyone in hip-hop is considerably part of the Africanist Aesthetics, they still embrace the creation of hip-hop and its origins.…
