Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr, better known as Muhammad Ali was born on January 17th, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. Muhammad’s parents, Cassius Marcellus Clay Sr. and Odessa Grady Clay, were middle-class citizens and lived in the “nice” part of town. His father was a sign and mural painter, and his mother was a stay at home mom. On sundays, him and his family, including his younger brother Rahaman Ali, would all go to Mount Zion Baptist Church. Muhammad attended DuValle Middle School, then he went to Central High School. Ali was never really a good student, and in later years he confessed he has always been a slow reader.
