Muggsy Bogues: The Oldest NBA Player

As a matter of fact, Muggsy was before a homeless person, who stopped growing way soon and made history of being the shortest player in the NBA. Not to mention, he still holds the record for the shortest NBA player at 5 feet and 3 inches but his size didn’t matter. He started from the Baltimore projects to the NBA as a point guard with a 14-year career, scoring more than 6,800 points.
Bogues was born on January 9, 1965, in Baltimore, Maryland. His mother raised him since his father went to prison. He was the youngest son. Bogues has always loved to play basketball, of course he always had to show them better. Although he was made fun of since of his height. When it would come to team captains picking, he was always left out. Just when he was 10 years old he stopped growing and basketball was everything to him that it even became a challenge. Besides, Bogues had a motivational speech that kept him going. It was about that depending on what you believe, you can become it.

Finally, he accepted an offer from Wake Forest University. He averaged with 11.6 points in 22 games in that year, and led the (ACC), and was ranked among the top 10 players. Muggsy played all 4 years at Wake Forest University finishing with 14.8 points, 9.5 assists, and 3.9 steals in his last year of the University. The Wake Forest team was on fire, having a 60-0 during their junior and senior years. In just 5 seasons they did 132-10 with 5 MDMSA Championships.
