Mucormycosis is a fungal infection caused by Mucorales. Infection of the oral cavity is the most common form of mucormycosis. One important key feature of mucormycosis is invasion into blood vessels which results in formation of blood clots and surrounding tissue death due to loss of blood supply. The most common all intraoral defects are mainly seen in maxilla in the form of extention into maxillary sinus or nasopharynx. Surgical resection of maxillary area is often challenging task for Maxillofacial Prosthodontist. It leads to communication between nasal and oral cavity that causes difficulty in swallowing, speech and also an unesthetic appearance. The main preliminary objective in each intra oral maxillofacial case is to restore vital functions.
