Much Ado About Nothing Play Comparison

The film “Much Ado About Nothing” was written for the screen and directed by Joss Whedon in 2012. William Shakespeare was the one who wrote the play “Much Ado About Nothing” . The film version was a more modern take of the play written by Shakespeare. I do believe that the film did very well in portraying how the characters actions and expression would of been in the written play. The film verizon gave a better understanding of how the characters characteristics would’ve been like. The actors in the play who play the lead role is Beatrice played by Amy Acker and Benedick played by Alexis Denisof. Amy really presents how Beatrice would act as the women who does not want a guy in her life. For example, she was pushing away the hand of a guy, who kept touching her during the party. Alexis portrayed Benedick very well, Benedick was a very over the top character, in the film Alexis really showed how over top Benedick is. For example, he was listening to Leonato, Don Pedro, and Claudio speaking about Beatrice loving Benedick. They gave the understanding of how each character in the play would have acted if it was a film. The costumes of the characters in the film was modern, but yet it still gave the feeling it was from Shakespeare’s time. The film gave that feeling, because all the women were wearing dresses, no pants like the way it would’ve been in Shakespeare’s time. The performance of the actors really brought the play to life. The actors really put themselves into the character they had to perform. If the actors have performed differently, could of been confusing and trying to connect the film and the play.
