“One Hero died when she was slandered, but I am alive.” By contrast, Claudio and Hero, are interminable lovers but Don John is deceiving. He looked to create problems and found it when he gave people false information which lead to Hero getting publicly slandered, leading to her being disowned and punished to death. Claudio is talking to Benedick about Hero and his feelings towards her and Benedick disagrees with his thoughts on love and women in general because he feels they’re all dirty, and cheaters. After Hero is said to be a cheater everyone believes that Hero is dead because of the humiliation, but she is alive, not letting anyone know until she, said to be her cousin, marries Claudio. Leonato indiscriminately chooses to have Claudio marry Hero’s said to be cousin knowing that Hero is alive. Claudio admits that he could not trust himself to keep a promise if “Hero would be [his] wife.” (Shakespeare 16) While Claudio plans to marry again after he is told Hero is dead, she reveals she is alive and holy by saying “one Hero dies when she was slandered, but I am alive. And as surely I am alive, I am a virgin.”(Shakespeare 233) This shows that they are both replete with respect and high looked upon as role models because they both have morals that they follow. With their high reputations they are admired and well represented through their judgment and demeanor. Overall, their similarities cause changes in the conflict’s path, impacting the plot.
