Much Ado About Nothing Essay Each individual encounters different situations at different moments in their life. These experiences change one’s life completely if they impact them either physically or mentally. In Shakespeare’s, Much Ado About Nothing, the author utilizes character development to suggest the idea that people go through significant experiences which can ultimately change their lives and identities. Specifically, Benedick and Claudio both go through new experiences which alter their lives, perceptions and characteristics.

Benedick was one of the dynamic characters because he underwent change. Initially, he was insecure about admitting his true feeling towards Beatrice because he associated this truth to a defeat in his 'merry war ' against her. Furthermore, this phobia of becoming a cuckold led him to firmly be against marriage. Benedick danced with Beatrice at the masked ball. He disguised himself in order to mask his identity and his feelings of love. Previously, Benedick and his two friends are joyfully welcomed back from the war and he begins another one war of wits against Beatrice. Benedick arrogantly mentions, "...But it is certain I am loved of all ladies, only you excepted and I would I could find in my heart that I had not a hard heart; for, truly, I love none ' (I.i.101-104). The biggest difference between Claudio and Benedick is that Claudio desperately wants to get married. On the other hand, Benedick has nothing good to say about getting married, or women for that matter. Benedick has a very negative outlook on marriage, he thinks it is pointless and that he will never find a faithful woman. Not only do they differ in that way, but also Claudio is very shy and quiet, whilst Benedick is very flamboyant and witty. Furthermore, one smaller thing that is different about the two men is what they think about Hero.…

In modern society, humans have come to judge each other off of superficial characteristics. These superficial characteristics are often a result of facticity, or characteristics people are unable to change about themselves, or at least not easily, as they are born with these qualities. Some of the most common elements that are used to form an opinion about people and serve as a basis for how to interact with them are their gender and socioeconomic status. The idea of identity, such as being a middle class male, shaping the status of a person in society is not only prevalent in reality, but also in literature, films, and theatre. Shakespeare, in his play Much Ado About Nothing, highlights the way both gender identity and socioeconomic identity shape the way people act and the way others interact with them.…

My chosen theme is loyalty within the play, Much ado about nothing. There is a lack of loyalty between Beatrice and Benedick as we get hints that they used to be a couple in act 2 scene 1 line 245 ‘he lent it me awhile, and i gave him use for it, a double heart for his single one.’ However they we are certain they are no longer a couple because in act 1 scene 1 line 70 Beatrice stated ‘He will hang upon him like a disease.’ This quote that Beatrice used to describe Benedick is a simile. A simile is used to describe two things which are similar or alike in some way, this shows that Beatrice thinks of Benedick as a disease and that he is hard to get rid of.…

The film “Much Ado About Nothing” was written for the screen and directed by Joss Whedon in 2012. William Shakespeare was the one who wrote the play “Much Ado About Nothing” . The film version was a more modern take of the play written by Shakespeare. I do believe that the film did very well in portraying how the characters actions and expression would of been in the written play. The film verizon gave a better understanding of how the characters characteristics would’ve been like.…

In Shakespeare’s play Much Ado about Nothing, each character was developed perfectly in order to fully present the plot at hand. As an author, Shakespeare carefully planned the usage and characteristics of each character in his play. He used language, comedy, and the personal attributes of each character to really develop them in his writing. After continuing to read more of Shakespeare I see that he not only did this for Much Ado About Nothing, but he makes sure he develops his characters carefully, but also perfectly for the plot at hand. In Much Abo About Nothing, there were many characters that I feel Shakespeare carefully took his time developing.…

He is saying he truly loves her and would do anything for her. The fact that Benedick would kill his own friend because Beatrice asked him too, shows us that this is in fact, true love. Shakespeare entitled his play Much Ado About Nothing because of how the play was based on misunderstandings that are not really important. The play was based on misconceptions because of how Benedict and Beatrice believe that they both loved each other. Because they both spied on their friends, they were tricked by them and they fell in love with each other in the end. This was not an important aspect of the play because it did not have a conflict or problem. Another wrong idea that happened in the play was when Claudio thought Hero was cheating on him so he publicly denounced her at their wedding.…
