One main and obvious reason is they are both witty. They say rude things about each other, though that seems to be the only way they can express feelings. Benedick has said Beatrice is beautiful, but he used a seemingly rude comment to hide it. They are also both very stubborn. For one, they refuse to admit their anything until the other person does, second, they wait for someone else to say something because they refuse to do it themselves.
