Failure is part of human nature, but no one expects it to happen to them. I especially didn’t think that failure would happen to me one night in May of 2015. This particular night was my sophomore year FFA banquet. The year prior I was honored with being the 2014-2015 chapter FFA historian. On this night I just knew I was going to be reelected.…

My involvement as President of this years National Honor Society at Burlington High School has been one of great dedication and hard work. I have to say, it has not been an easy task, but it has taught me an aray of different lessons dealing with management of particular tasks and using time more efficiently. My life is hectic enough as it is living on a farm, playing high school sports, and challenging myself academically as much as possible, and NHS has only added to that work-load, but in no way would I ever change my decision to be a leader of NHS. This year has been extremely rewarding to me as I have launched two projects, one of which has been completed as my project team and I helped get seniors registered to vote in Wisconsin for the upcoming election in November.…

After my two full years at Roscommon High School, I am very grateful to have reached the standard for National Honor Society membership. This is an opportunity that not everyone has the privilege to be a part of during their high school career. I would like to display the ways in which I have demonstrated the required assets to be a part of this organization. Not only do I possess the qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and service, but through N.H.S., I am certain that I will grow tremendously in each of these areas. The first quality I have demonstrated throughout my life, but more specifically, my high school career, is character.…

Prior to middle school, I thought I was satisfied with my position. I had friends, got along with my teachers, excelled in sports, and got decent grades in my classes. Back then, I thought this well-roundedness I sought between these necessities would offer me self-satisfaction. Little did I know, however, that I was going to confront this well-rounded nature of mine during my first awards ceremony in middle school. Among the most intelligent, artistic or athletic of the students present there, I was the one of the few who simply struggled to stand out.…

Ever since the school started, we have had more and more students from different grade levels attend here. However, it is quite clear that our school is still rather small compared to others, but nethertheless, teachers and students have begun to create clubs dedicated to activities such as sports, music, artwork, boardgames, and so on. The school has also developed other traditional programs such as Student Council, and from what I heard, our school is soon going to develop our very own Honor Society program. However, as we continue to grow, we come to the subject of something many people don’t really tend to consider, and that is our mode of transportation. Currently, when we have an event that involves leaving the school, we normally rent…

Positive Impact Last year, I made the decision to run for an executive position in a university society, and was somewhat surprisingly elected for the role. While this has resulted in both positive and negative consequences, it generally has a positive impact in relation to my career aspirations. I wanted to become an executive member of the society so that I could influence the society in the direction I want – I was disappointed in the previous executive team, as the society was not what I expected when I first joined as a first year, and so I wanted to ‘fix’ this incompetence. It was a desire that I harboured for a while, but the decision to act on my desire was rather impulsive, and encouraged by my peers. This is parallel to one of…

I am confident that my experiences while a student at the University of California, Davis are what have most prepared me to succeed as a student of law. My curiosity of law and politics began around the age of ten, though at the time, I did not have my sights set on a legal profession. My grandfather told me about how his father was one of the first elected officials of the Indian National Congress, and how he got his start as a political activist and eventual trained to become a barrister. Those stories that made me wonder about what I could do to help change the world were actually about my great-grandfather and his work with Mahatma Gandhi and Vallabhbhai "Sardar" Patel to help establish the Indian National Congress.…
