Western Paladin Games uses a variety of promotion platform to target community interest in MTG. For example, buy-a-box promotion, and promotional cards. The business owner uses these promotion strategies to send awareness to the social media websites, Facebook, use flyers, and pass word-of-mouth referrals. The small business is using the pull promotional strategy, because it uses media promotions, word-of-mouth referrals and maintains customer relationships.
It is the desire for Western Paladin Games to be a community-based who cater to nerds of all types. WPG purchase their MTG products directly from Wizards of the Coast who are their main distributor. Wizard of the Coast was founded in 1990 by Peter D. Adkison and it is a US company in Renton, Washington. Needless to say, the owners sell the merchandise for reduce retail price, which appeals to consumers.
Western Paladin Games current target market primarily consists of older teens, college students, and young adults who play card games. The target audience also plays video games, role-playing games, and watches science fiction movies and television shows. However, this group is looking for an environment that is inclusive and non-judgmental, as some of the players may be socially awkward or shy. All in all, the benefits that individuals look for are, Friday Night Magic (FNM), Wizards Play Network Premium Tournaments, MTG Membership, free information on MTG, becoming a pro player and it is convenience.
A customer may decide to change their choice as to where to buy MTG cards. This is a problem because there are other places in College Place, WA to purchase the same or similar product. The store faces the challenge of being competitive with their products while still generating a profit.
