Mt. Stuart Elementary Classroom Observation

On Friday May 13 I was able to observe two P.E. classes at Mt. Stuart Elementary. There were two sections which I observed, first group was a 1st grade class and then a kindergarten class. It was a very cool experience, since I don’t remember P.E. classes back when I was young. One thing I enjoyed was the teacher’s enthusiasm when the students walked into the gym. He welcomed each student with a smile and with excitement. The students just came from class and was almost done with their day, but he was able to get them excited to do the activities he had planned for the day. This is an important part of being a teacher, whether it is P.E. class or an English class you have to show excitement in order for your student to become excited. Another characteristic that I liked was the activities he allowed the students to do. The activities reminded me of what I wanted to do for my lesson for our class. The student lesson was …show more content…
Although he was able to transition each group of students from section to section smoothly, there was a little chaos during the activity time. During the activities, he could only keep his eyes on one group at a time, which is not his fault, but I think he could have created a way in which he was able to watch each group. There were many students not doing the activity correctly or just sitting around. I do not blame him because there was so little time for each class, that he has to have each group at a different section or else the student would not be able to perform every activity. I feel an effective way was to make bigger groups. Also, at time there would be students who would get hurt or he would have to tie a student’s show lace, that there would not be anyone watching the students, so this was a mall problem. Most of the student behaved themselves, but I feel something may have happened while he was not paying full attention to what was going

All teachers performed great jobs at creating a unified classroom of learners. The students have favorable moments to act as chiefs and helpmates with individual responsibilities; their jobs are placed in a pocket folder on the wall. Students could participate in classroom activities in a variety of ways. Ms. Atkinson, Bell, Waldoky, and Gullekerson used a rocking chair during their teachable moments. I noticed around the classrooms, the teachers modeled supportive interactions with the students, and encouraged prosocial behavior.…

For this observation I observed a second grade classroom at Farmdale Elementary. When I walked into the class they all stopped and waited quietly until the teacher introduced me. Once the teacher introduced me they all greeted me with “Good Morning, Mrs. Tatiana.” I felt the teacher had good classroom management that brought good manners. The class started with reciting Martin Luther king’s speech, she called a couple students to recite it alone.…

Over the last 8 weeks I have come to know and spent my time with a very hardworking and respectful group of 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students at Naramake Elementary School in Norwalk, CT. It has been a very memorable experience, one that I will cherish forever. I went into this experience thinking that I knew a lot about the teaching profession and had previous experiences in the schools, but I left knowing a lot more than I could have ever imagined. I learned so much not only from my cooperating teacher, Lori Anrico as well as the Naramake staff, but most importantly I learned from the students. I immediately knew that I needed to familiarize myself with the students if I was going to be able to connect with them and teach them the material necessary for them to succeed in their appropriate grades.…

On today, March 23, 2017, I had the opportunity to observe Makai, a five-year old atypical student in Ms. Parker’s atypical pre-k classroom at C.C. Spaulding Elementary School. From entering the classroom, I could instantly tell that they try to keep the environment as calm as possible. When I arrived, the class was finishing up their circle time activities on the carpet. The class had about eight students present. There were two teacher assistants in the classroom to provide ample support to the students.…

I arrived at Easton School District’s Forks Elementary School at around 8:45 a.m. that morning, a few minutes before the children were let in for class, to observe a 4th grade classroom. The instructor for the class, Mrs. Powell met with me in the main office to walk me down to her classroom. The first thing I saw when walking into the classroom was all of the different learning tools around the room, Mrs. Powell's use of both chalkboards for different objectives was just one, along with open reading areas. The classroom was set up into different 4 person groups, in which the students were able to work together and collaborate. When I was getting settled into the classroom around 9:00 a.m., the students began to arrive officially starting…

After reading the syllabus I have the understanding that teachers must follow every rule implied such as following directions. The teachers must follow directions every step of the way according to the instructions given. Just as the teacher follows the direction the teacher also expects his or her students to the same thing. Being so the syllabus informs the students to follow the instruction's directions such as having discipline and to be on top of the assignments by checking the email constantly. As a student of this Education 1 online course, I have to follow the instruction that is expected of me as the student.…

I traveled to the government center in toledo to attend a meeting with a small group of government students. Along the way, we got lost but eventually found the tall white building that one of our friends described to us as the government center. I found a parking spot and paid the parking meter. We walked the rest of the way in the unpredicted humid May weather. The building was refreshingly cool; the inside was presented in a sophisticated manner.…

I really enjoyed the time I spent in Mrs. Flinn’s fourth grade classroom over Spring Break. I was able to observe for a total of four hours between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. During my time with the fourth graders, I took a closer look at the solid behavior classroom supports being used. Along with these supports, I was extremely impressed by the way Mrs. Flinn handled classroom management. Even though I observed during a very exciting week, she had great control over her students.…

This semester of observations was very beneficially to me, and made my decision to become a teacher clearer. I observed in a 3rd grade classroom at Meadow View Elementary School, and witnessed the true life of a teacher. I saw some things I agreed with, and some things I did not agree with. My class had 21 students, but Meadow View Elementary School does team teaching, so overall I observed about 40 students. During my 50 hours of observations, I was able to relate experiences in the classroom to content I learned in the ED 401.…

SEP #4 In my observation of a Kindergarten class, there were many different teaching methods used. The teacher used many visual aids, and example would be when she asked the students to draw a pig. She displayed a pig on the board that was drawn by a guest speaker, and the students were asked to replicate the drawing. The teacher I observed also used games to enhance the student’s learning.…

Through the course of my practical, I was given a Grade two class to observe and I unquestionably discovered a recently developed love for that age group. I was always adamant from the first time I knew I wanted to become a teacher that I wanted to teach Grade one’s, but my thoughts have definitely evolved. During the course of my observing I was more than willing to help with various activities such as marking, doing spelling tests with the children, as well as helping them with any difficulties they were having with their work.
