CCU and Mount St. Joseph University both have similar opportunities when it comes to their business school. The first opportunity that the two universities share is increasing the amount of online classes they offer. Both schools only offer a few select courses that are available to take online. Many college students are forced to work throughout their years at university. Increasing the amount of online courses offered in the program will encourage students who have other commitments to attend both colleges as they can attend an online course when it is most beneficial for them. Another opportunity that both universities have is partnering with outside local employers both in the private and nonprofit sectors. Today, the driving factor for many students to go to college is for students to be prepared to enter the workforce after their education is complete. Although both schools host small events such as networking events neither makes any attempt beyond these types of events to make their students more appealing to local organizations. Mount St. Joseph offers a 5-year program that allows students to complete their bachelor’s and master’s in 5 years. This is a way to attract more students as there is no current option for graduate school at CCU and being able to shorten the time in class for students encourages them to get their master’s. Another opportunity exclusive to CCU is to promote their pre-law degree. Many students aren’t currently aware CCU even has a pre-law program and the degree is the least popular degree offered through the business school. By promoting this degree that is already setup it would be easy to get new freshmen who are interested in
