Papa Seck is an MSBC student with 15 credit hours completed and a 3.2 GPA. In his last course, in session 3, he earned a second C, which requires his dismissal under the current policy. I advised him of the grade appeal process, yet he was unsuccessful in his appeal to his instructor. Successful CC =1 CM contacted Ms. Feliciano to discuss Devin's recent alterication at school and Hoboken Outpatient Program. Ms. Feliciano informed CM that she does not agreed with the school decision to place Devin on home instruction. CM sugguested that Ms. Feliciano advocate for Devin by going to Hoboken Board of Education to try to get home back in school. Ms. Feliciano agreed to advocate to get Devin back in school. It was on June 13, 2013 the U.S. Court of Appeals issued a motion about parental participation at IEP meetings in the case of Doug C. v Hawaii. The father requested a special education due process hearing against the State of Hawaii because the November 9, 2009 IEP meeting was held without his father being there. The case went to court because the father was sick during the scheduled initial time of the meeting, and he wanted to reschedule. However, among the other dates chosen, the father couldn’t give a specific date for the actual meeting because he was still sick and didn’t know if he was going to be well those particular dates.…
In regards to placement or map out of IEP for Bentley Barr. Per the evaluations that were conducted by Childwatch/Capital School District, Bentley’s family has been discussing the best options and we’re not sure we agree and would like to re-evaluate Bentley’s placement choice for the Wesley School for reasons to be further noted. I request Prior Written Notice to explain why Bentley was offered a two day program even though the IEP team thought that he needed to be awarded one more day, but there simply is no more room in this classroom for him. The team felt that this was the best option for him and that he would be able to learn more due to a smaller classroom size with this choice.…

Although there is a clearly stated disciplinary consequence for her action, the administrative staff conflict with enforcing that punishment. Mr. Furtoski, the principal, especially struggled with the decision because he did not want to supersede the teacher’s autonomy and rights to follow district mandated rules; which he helped to approve. At the same time, his moral consciousness played a role. He thought the punishment was unwarranted. Reflection for Week Eleven During week eleven I had the opportunity to sit in on parent teacher conferences on Tuesday and Thursday. Although the days were very long since we were at school until 6:30pm each night, I gain knew insight from the teacher’s perspective. I learned that it is best to sit beside the parents instead of sitting in the “teacher’s chair” so that parents do not feel intimidated as you share information about their students.
