MS Disease Research Paper
Many diseases have taken the world by surprise in the past couple centuries, and unfortunately some of them are hard or even impossible to cure or find a definite cause of. MS, or Multiple Sclerosis, is a good example of one. This disease appears to be either flat out you get it or you don’t; there is no definite way to prevent it. The true definition of MS is stated as: a chronic autoimmune disorder affecting movement, sensations, and bodily functions (“Multiple Sclerosis Health Center”). An abnormal response of the body’s immune system is directed against the central nervous system (“Multiple Sclerosis Health Center”). The first symptoms tend to develop around the age of 20-40, and often symptoms will leave and come back (“Multiple Sclerosis”). This makes it hard to track how the disease’s course is running. An average person living in the U.S. has a 0.1% chance of acquiring MS (“MS”). It affects more than 2.3 million people worldwide (“MS”). MS is a life-changing disease that makes it much more difficult to live a normal day. MS comes with a surplus of symptoms that affect your daily routine. It essentially affects your whole body; your movement, sensation, bodily functions, vision, balance, strength and coordination (“Multiple Sclerosis”). Unusual sensations can include: “pins and needles” feeling, itching, burning, stabbing, and tearing pains (“Multiple Sclerosis”).
