In the examination, a nurse is involved in translation, two radiographers to position and immobilize the patient and another radiographer at the control panel preparing to expose at the right time. All these members were needed to deliver effective communication, minimize the time of the examination, modify radiographic techniques and provide maximum care to Mrs. X. Through the teamwork, the productivity increased, resources were utilized better and high quality, safe patient care delivered. It also benefits the team members as risks are minimized during patient transfer and work are made easier to accomplish. Through teamwork, the significance of communication is accentuated. The verbal and nonverbal communication between the staff and the patient improved patient compliance and the best strategies could be formed and utilized to maximize the patient’s comfort and exam efficiency. Lastly, the ability to be flexible in a difficult situation is accentuated in this case study. The limited range of motion of Mrs. X and her non-compliances required modification in the positioning of her body, the x-ray tube and manipulation of available resources such as equipment and staff.
