After talking to Mrs. Nelson and observing her classroom I have realized two major things. First, it is very important to have an effective classroom management system in place. Therefore, the students already know what behaviors are acceptable, what is expected of them and what they can expect from the teacher. Mrs. Nelson’s class ran very smoothly and with little interruptions due to behavior. She focused a lot of positive reinforcement and that is something I want to carry over into my classroom. Second, all students can and want to learn. It’s important to remember to praise everyone, not just ones with behavior issues. Also, don’t forget the middle students.
