She was clearly insane, these were not merely the sightings of ghosts but rather something more, something more sinister. I can conclude with accuracy that they are not what the governess claims that they are. They do what children do as they have displayed countless times to me and the governess their innocence- “took him to my heart for was something divine” Miles is certainly divine and his innocence was clear for even the governess to see. Also, Flora is an angel amongst angels and even though they have suffered in their previous experiences their brightness still illuminates. The governess agreed that their past experiences were traumatic- “Miles and Flora saw more – things terrible and unguessable and that sprang from dreadful passages of intercourse in the past” her lack of morals are insane and I can no longer watch the governess look after the children in this manner.
