At first glance, Mrs. Dubose seems like an old woman who is mad at everyone. Due to her illness, Mrs. Dubose had an addiction to morphine. But, before Mrs. Dubose died she wanted to “beholden to nothing and nobody” (Lee 127). She was able to do this by kicking her addiction to the pain killer. To Atticus she was the bravest person he had ever known. The last character that exemplified character was Boo Radley. Since he was so reclusive and different than everyone else, even holding Scout’s hand took courage. Boo Radley slowly had to build up the courage to interact with Jem and Scout, and in the end he saved their lives. Both Mrs. Dubose and Boo Radley seemed cruel to the kids, but as they saw how much courage they had the kids view of them
